Fun Day Trips from Myrtle Beach

a large body of water

When you visit Myrtle Beach, there are tons of fun activities to get involved in. But that doesn’t mean you’re stuck in Myrtle Beach for your whole trip! In fact, there are quite a few beautiful spots that offer even more fun for you and your family. While you’re in town, consider taking a day to explore one of these nearby destinations!

Pawley’s Island

Pawley’s Island is located about 40 minutes south of Myrtle Beach, making for an easy trip down the coastline. This destination offers a relaxed, laid-back feel that you probably won’t find in the big city. You can stroll along the beach and enjoy the ocean breeze, or you can head into town to explore the shops and restaurants of the area. If you’re a fan of golf, be sure not to miss a trip to the Caledonia Golf and Fish Club! Art lovers will enjoy visiting the Cheryl Newby Gallery, and for lunch, check out the Chive Blossom Café, Pawleys Island Tavern, or Rustic Table.

Calabash

Head about 35 minutes north of Myrtle Beach and slightly inland to get to Calabash, North Carolina. Visiting this town offers plenty of opportunities to get outdoors, away from the sand and surf. Here, you’ll find tons of great golf courses, including Oyster Bay Golf Links, Crow Creek Golf Club, and The Pearl Golf Course. Explore the breathtaking nature of Vereen Memorial Gardens, get competitive at Tropical Adventure Mini Golf, or watch the boats come in at Calabash Waterfront Park.

Murrells Inlet

Last but certainly not least is Murrells Inlet, a welcoming town located just 25 minutes south of Myrtle Beach. This destination is also close to Pawley’s Island, so you could knock them both out all in one day! Murrells Inlet is arguably the most popular Myrtle Beach day trip.  It has tons of attractions for the entire family to enjoy. Enjoy delicious food, great views, and live music at the Murrells Inlet Marsh Walk, explore the nature trails of Huntington Beach State Park, or wander around Brookgreen Gardens for a truly relaxing experience. Murrells Inlet is also home to Lee’s Farmers Market, the TPC Myrtle Beach golf course, and the Gilligan’s Island Funland mini golf!

One last attraction in Murrells Inlet is a business we simply couldn’t leave out… us! Crazy Sister Marina has spent years serving locals and guests to the Myrtle Beach area. We are proud to be one of the most trusted water sports companies in the area. Our fishing charters are popular with anglers of all ages and skill levels, while our boat rentals are great for those who want to explore the water at their own pace. We also offer family-friendly Myrtle Beach dolphin cruises that put you face-to-face with some of the most beautiful marine life in the area!

When you’re visiting Myrtle Beach, be sure to set aside a day to experience the area around the city. We’d love to meet you when you stop by Murrells Inlet!
