Coastal Carolina University

Coastal Carolina University

Located in Conway, South Carolina, Coastal Carolina University has been educating young adults since 1954. Only a short drive from Myrtle Beach and Murrells Inlet, CCU is where students are challenged to lead boldly, and inspired to make a difference. Many students, in their free time away from their studies, find themselves enjoying all the fun things The Grand Strand has to offer! Here at Crazy Sister Marina, we are no strangers to the Coastal Carolina students. From fishing clubs, to greek life outings, educational partnerships, and employing alumni, we’ve made a great relationship with this local university.

CCU Saltwater Anglers Club

A few times a year, Crazy Sister Marina has the pleasure of getting the Coastal Carolina Saltwater Anglers Club out on some of our head boat fishing trips. The CCU Saltwater Anglers Club is mainly centered around all things saltwater fishing related, whether that be inshore, offshore, or from the surf. The Saltwater Anglers Club holds regular meetings to talk about what the hot bites are in the area and always have an amazing time out on the water throughout the year. All club members are super enthusiastic about their shared hobby and are always willing to help out and pass along information to others.

Coastal Carolina Greek Life

With the fleet of rental boats we offer at Crazy Sister Marina, we get to host Greek Life boat outings often! Most often during fall break and spring break, greek life students will come and rent out our pontoons and skiffs to take through the inlet down to the Garden City Point where they can enjoy a day at the beach! The Point is a patch of beach only accessible by boat, making taking the rental boats out to it a one of a kind experience. We love to get these students out on the water to experience all that the inlet has to offer. Wear a swimsuit, pack a cooler, bring a speaker, and your friends, you’re always in for a fun time with Crazy Sister Marina and your Greek Life chapter.

Coastal Carolina Marine Biology Department

The Marine Biology class frequents the floating docks here at Crazy Sister Marina for hands-on lessons! Students will come and work together to scrape algae and invertebrates off the sides of the docks to identify the many species found. They are usually brought here by Dr. Lauren Stefaniak, an assistant professor in the Department of Marine Science from Coastal Carolina. She uses the experience with the students to teach them the importance of this kind of research and the marsh ecosystem. The students tend to visit in the Spring and Fall time allowing the staff and students to study the biodiversity and track if any new species have made their home here or if any may have disappeared.
