What You Should Know About Parasailing

If you are a thrill-seeker, love a good adventure, and are looking for things to do in Myrtle Beach, why not give parasailing a try? If you ask the folks here at Crazy Sister Marina, we’ll tell you that parasailing is one of the enjoyable watersports in the world. When you are soaring up high in the sky, safely strapped into your harness and connected to our parasailing boat, you’ll feel virtually weightless, and you’ll experience quite the rush.

It should come as no wonder that parasailing has become one of the most popular things to do in Myrtle Beach, in addition to participating in a dolphin watch, renting a jet-ski, kayak, or paddleboard, or going on a fishing charter. Of course, you’ll love the experience of being up in the air in the middle of the ocean. But as with any outdoor adventure, whether it be in the water or high above it, there are some things you should know.

3 Things to Know about Parasailing Before You Go

1. Ensure that the parasailing tour operator follows all local laws and regulations.

Reputable parasailing tour operators such as Crazy Sister Marina will always ensure your utmost safety. So, leave the hard work to us so that you can enjoy your ten to 12 minutes of airtime. We provide that the parasail does not reach a height above the maximum altitude designated by the FAA is 500 feet on a vertical tow line. Further, we ensure that participants are not less than 110 pounds or more than 425 pounds. The total weight allowed on the boat is 450 pounds. Additionally, we do not operate when the winds are over 15 mph.

2. Get to know your parasailing operator and crew

Your parasailing adventure is about far more than just your time in the sky. During the boat ride to and from the launch location, take the time to talk to the people operating the boat. Your crew will appreciate the conversation and take plenty of time to tell you what you need to know. We’ll walk you through our hand signals, too, so that you can communicate with us when you are up in the air. And if you have anything you think we need to know beforehand, be sure to tell us so that we can make your in-air experience as comfortable or exhilarating as possible.

3. Know that you might encounter some wildlife during your parasailing adventure

The Myrtle Beach area is well-known for dolphins that love to frequent the area’s waters. As you may know, dolphins are curious mammals, and they love adventure too. Since dolphins like to hand fun, they often travel through the water right behind small boats so that they can take advantage of the wake that follows. Not only does the wake serve as a speed booster, but dolphins love the opportunity to investigate what’s happening on the boat. You may get lucky and delight if dolphins choose to join you on your parasailing adventure, especially if they jump out of the water to get a better glimpse of what is going on.
