5 Things to Bring on Your Myrtle Beach Fishing Trip

When you’re planning a fishing trip in Myrtle Beach, there are a few obvious things you’ll need to have with you. Of course, you’ll need to have your rod and reel, a cooler, plenty of water, and a sense of adventure. But there are a few extra items that you might not think about when you’re booking your first Myrtle Beach fishing charter. Here are five things we would recommend that you pack!

Fishing Trip Backpack

To start, you’re going to need something to put all your equipment in during your fishing trip. A backpack is the perfect way to carry around your things while staying hands-free. It’s best to find something waterproof if you can (especially if you plan on fishing more often after this!) You don’t need anything huge, but you’ll find that having a backpack definitely comes in handy over a tote bag or purse.

Reef-Safe Sunscreen

Now we need to talk about everything you’ll put inside that backpack! To protect yourself from those hot Myrtle Beach rays, be sure to bring some reef-safe sunscreen. We want to make sure that we protect our oceans and its inhabitants for as long as possible. Using sunscreen that’s specifically designed without harsh chemicals that can damage the reef is an easy way to do your part.

Official Fishing Trip Camera

Of course, you’re going to want to bring a camera along with you. You can choose to simply use the camera on your smartphone or bring a separate camera, but either way, having a waterproof cover is essential. When you bring your camera along with you on your fishing trip, you can snap photos of the gorgeous ocean views everywhere you look and show off the fish you manage to catch throughout the day!

Bug Repellant

You might not think that you need bug spray while you’re out on the open water, but think again! It often surprises guests on our Myrtle Beach fish and charters how many bugs can get in the way, no matter whether you’re close to shore or out in the deep sea. Bug repellant should definitely make its way into your backpack if you have young kids coming on the boat with you.

Towel

Last but not least, don’t underestimate the importance of the basic towel. You can use your towel to dry your wet hands to hold the fishing pole better, shade yourself from the hot sun when you’re relaxing, or dry off if you decide to go for a swim! A towel is a lightweight addition to your bag that you’ll be incredibly thankful you thought to bring along.
