How to Pack For a Boat Trip
How to Pack For a Boat Trip
Nothing will complete your Myrtle Beach vacation quite like taking a trip on a boat. And with the wide variety of pontoon boat rentals available, anyone can get in on the game. Provided you have a boating license, you can easily find yourself a rental and spend a day on the water. Enjoy an afternoon of fishing in the inlet, or give yourself a tour of the Intracoastal Waterway. Itâs really up to you! At Crazy Sister Marina, you can rent for half a day, or a full day.
But before you get on the water, youâre going to need some supplies. Hereâs a quick look at the supplies youâll need on your boat trip.
The Boating Basics
So, what do you absolutely, positively need to have with you?
- A first-aid kit. A proper first aid kit should include Band Aids, gauze bandages, medical tape, antiseptic cream, scissors, vinyl gloves, and tweezers. Pain relievers and anti-nausea medications are also a good plus.
- Life jackets. Make sure there are enough for every passenger, and make sure that theyâre the right size.
- Flares and distress flags. Even the best-planned trips sometimes go wrong. If your boat breaks down, youâre going to need a way to signal for help.
- The boatâs registration and proof of insurance. Myrtle Beach boat rentals should already have these on board. Just make sure you know where they are, in case youâre asked.
- Food and water. Even if youâre just taking a short trip and donât need any food, youâre going to be out in the sun, and youâre going to get thirsty. Water is a must! And if youâre out for more than a few hours, youâre going to want something to munch on.
- A cell phone. In todayâs world, everyone on the boat will probably have one. Make sure theyâre fully charged, just in case you need to call for help.
- A portable power bank. You probably wonât need one, but if youâre on a long trip, youâre going to need a way to charge your cell phone.
- A flashlight. If youâre staying on the water overnight, youâre going to need some source of light.
- A trash bag. You wouldnât litter on the land, so why would you litter in the water? A trash bag means you wonât, even accidentally.
The Extras
Boat rentals are about more than just the essentials. Theyâre about having fun! So what else should you bring with you?
- Sunscreen. Youâre going to be out in the sun, but thereâs no reason to get a sunburn. Make sure to reapply your sunscreen every few hours!
- Fishing supplies. If you bring a rod, tackle, and an ice bucket, you can enjoy a day of fishing.
- Paddles. Paddles arenât an ideal method of propulsion, but if your engine fails, youâre going to need some way to get back to shore.
- Extra jackets. It can get breezy out in the inlet! Even if youâre comfortable on shore, you might get chilly when youâre out on the water.
- A change of clothes. Out on the water, you might get wet. Carrying a change of clothes in a waterproof bag means you donât have to stay wet.
