Fun Things to Do in Myrtle Beach

If you’re looking for fun, family things to do in Myrtle Beach, you’re not alone. Each year, 14 million people visit our city from all over the world. Besides our world-famous Ferris wheel, we’re also known for our fishing, dolphin tours, and all-around laid-back inlet atmosphere. But you don’t have to fly by the seat of your pants. With proper planning, you can live like a local, and enjoy everything that Myrtle Beach has to offer!

Charter Fishing Trip

One of Myrtle Beach’s main attractions is the deep water fishing off the coast. You can charter a fishing boat, and fish for black sea bass, grouper, snapper, larger sea bass, trigger, wahoo, and king mackerel. If you get lucky, you might even hook a mako shark! On charter fishing trips, you don’t have to worry about owning your boat or knowing the best spots. Just pay the charter company, and they’ll take you where you want to go.

Party Boat Fishing

Crazy Sister Marina offers head boat fishing both for near-shore, half-day trips and for full day, deep water trips. Near shore, you can catch Black Sea Bass, Grunts, Tom-Tates, Sea Bream, and Porgies. In deeper water, you can catch Vermillion and Silver Snapper, Grouper, Sharks, Triggerfish, Grunts, Amberjack and other deep water species. Go by yourself, or take the whole family!

Cruises

If you’re not into fishing, you can still enjoy everything else the ocean has to offer. Alternatively, you can sail inland up the Intracoastal Waterway to take a boat tour of the city. There are even casino boats available, so you can gamble away like there’s no tomorrow. Depending on what you want, there are cruises ranging everywhere from overnight to simple dinner cruises. Whatever floats your boat!

Dolphin Tours

Among the more popular options are dolphin tours. Now, dolphins are actually pretty common in our neck of the woods, but they’re tough to predict. At any given day on the beach, you might see a whole pod of them swim by. Or, you might sit for a week and see nothing at all. Dolphin tour pilots know exactly where the dolphins like to congregate. It’s not a 100% guarantee, but it’s your best chance of spotting a friendly family of our finned friends. The best dolphin watch tour in Myrtle Beach is none other than Blue Wave Adventures. Capt. Mark and Amy know where the dolphins are and keep the whole group entertained with a mix of fun and education.

Boat Rentals and Jet Ski Rentals

If you prefer to do your own thing, there’s no reason to limit yourself to a charter or a guided tour. Myrtle Beach has several services that offer boat rentals directly to you. Depending on what you want, you can get anything from a small fishing boat to a jet ski. Explore the inlet on your own terms, and on your own schedule. Keep in mind, though, that renting some kinds of boat will require a boating license. Then again, if you’re a boating enthusiast, you probably already have one.

Murrells Inlet MarshWalk

Murrells Inlet MarshWalk is a top attraction for those vacationing in Myrtle Beach. Just a short drive from the heart of Myrtle Beach, the MarshWalk offers families and kids of all ages something for everyone. Crazy Sister Marina offers many great attractions to enjoy the local waterline…fishing, boating, paddling. There are numerous restaurants and bars with options for all taste buds in the group. There is typically live entertainment throughout the MarshWalk at Dead Dog Saloon, Wicked Tuna, Creek Ratz, and a long-time staple, Drunken Jacks.

Myrtle Beach Outlets

Myrtle Beach is know for its shopping. Year-round people visit Tanger Outlets in search of name-brand bargains. And the outlet shopping in Myrtle Beach does not disappoint. There are two locations for the Tanger Outlets in Myrtle Beach. The HWY 501 location is convenient for those on the South End (as we like to call it), Conway and Myrtle Beach. The Kings Road (HWY 17) location is convenient for those on North End of Myrtle Beach and Cherry Grove.

We will stop there for now! There’s much much more to do….like the Myrtle Beach BLVD, the SkyWheel, THE BEACH. Until next post! Your Crazy Sister
