Summertime is easily the busiest season here in Myrtle Beach, and for good reason. There are all kinds of fun things to see and do, including permanent attractions and seasonal events happening nearly every weekend. But when you come, you’ll probably want to know a bit more about what to expect from the Summer weather in Myrtle Beach. We’ve got you covered!

Average Temperatures

It’s probably no surprise that summer is the hottest season here in Myrtle Beach. But just how hot does it get? Throughout June, July, and August, temperatures tend to top out around 88 degrees. It’s not uncommon to get temperatures up into the 90s, but the 80s are where things will usually stay. In the mornings and evenings, you’re likely to experience the lowest temperatures of the day, but conditions usually won’t get lower than 70.

Average Rainfall

Summer is also the wettest season here in Myrtle Beach, but you’re not likely to have the rain ruin all of your plans. Throughout the summer, there is an average of 8 days of rain per month. Luckily, this rain usually comes through as afternoon showers, which helps to bring in a cooler evening. You can spend this rainy time relaxing in your vacation rental or checking out indoor activities like local museums, souvenir shops, and more.

What to Pack

When you’re planning for your Myrtle Beach vacation, what should you pack? Some of those things will be obvious: sandals, shorts, t-shirts, and swimsuits are summer staples for any beach vacation. It’s also a good idea to bring some comfortable walking shoes so you can easily explore the city and all of its various attractions. Some guests bring light jackets to keep them warm in the cooler evenings or mornings. If you’re really into nature, consider bringing some binoculars or a nature guide to keep up with the animals you see during your stay! A few miscellaneous things to bring may include sunscreen, your camera, and plastic bags to keep your things dry at the beach.

Summer Activities

After all that, we can finally talk about what to do when you get to Myrtle Beach! You’ll want to spend some time on the beach, of course. You might also take a swim, play beach volleyball, or just watch the waves roll in on the shoreline. You can also head over to Broadway at the Beach to get a bite to eat, pick out a souvenir, or visit the aquarium.
